Diana Kowalski
General Music 6th & 7th Grade, Chorus 6th Grade
Diana Kowalski, Instructor of 6th and 7th Grade General Music and 6th Grade Chorus, KMS: An "accidental musician," Mrs. Kowalski first became interested in music when her skills as a dancer were required to assist in choreographing movement for high school choirs. Becoming completely immersed in this activity, she began to professionally choreograph show choirs and musicals at a young age. Discovering a love of music along the way, she made the difficult decision to relocate from her home state of Maryland to the Chicago suburbs, where public school music programs were thriving. Mrs. Kowalski has studied voice with Washington Opera Company principal Kyle Englar, as well as Lyric Opera Performer Paul Grizzell.
After receiving her Bachelors of Music
Education from North Central College, Mrs. Kowalski was hired by Kaneland Schools in 2001. She currently teaches 6th and 7th grade General music and 6th grade chorus. Currently furthering her education, she is pursuing a Master's degree at NIU's School of Music. Her main focus in recent months is her Master's Thesis, a study on the attitudes and skill development of boys in all male choirs.
