Brian Kowalski
Chorus 7th & 8th Grade

Brian Kowalski currently teaches music and drama at KMS, where he conducts the seventh and eighth grade choruses, Mid-Knight Special, and directs the school’s fall play and spring musical. A former Biology major, he decided to study music when he found himself taying up late at night to arrange music for his a cappella group instead of doing his Genetics homework. Mr. Kowalski holds a Bachelors degree in music from Loyola University Chicago (where he studied piano with Eliza Kenney, organ with Judith Dewell, and voice with Dorothy Dwight), and is currently completing a Masters degree in Music at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.

In addition to his duties at KMS, Mr. Kowalski also enjoys being a guest conductor, most recently for the School District U-46 Middle School Honors Chorus and the Rochelle Elementary School Choral Festival. An accomplished accompanist, he has played for numerous high school choruses, community choirs, and semi-professional groups in the Chicagoland area, and often plays for high school and community musical productions as well. Mr. Kowalski is also a church musician, most recently the music director at the Newman Center in DeKalb, IL. He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association and the Illinois Music Educators Association and is in demand as a vocal soloist, conductor, and adjudicator in Northern Illinois. In the summer months, Mr. Kowalski organizes and chaperones high school music tours to Europe.
